German European Championship rival - Confident Musician Ross Ready for Scotland: Lambert Issues Caution

Bob Ross, a Scottish musician living in Munich, knows who will emerge victorious in the Euro 2021 opening game between his current home and his birthplace - Scotland. "Scotland will win because they have nothing to lose. Germany will lose because they have too much pressure on them," said the conductor and hornist of the German Press Agency. "All Scots hope that England loses."

Come Friday (8:00 pm/ZDF and MagentaTV), the Scottish football national team will face off against the underdog team led by Julian Nagelsmann, coach of the German National Team. "The Scottish team is a force to be reckoned with - it doesn't matter who plays," said Ross, from Kirkcaldy, who has lived in Germany for half a century. Founded 40 years ago, his ensemble 'Blechschaden' is a collective of Munich Philharmonikers.

Expert Evaluation

Since 2019, Steve Clarke has been steering the Scottish team. "Steve Clarke seems like a stern guy, somewhat akin to José Mourinho, but not so intense," remarked Ross. "He's an experienced coach with tons of knowledge under his belt. Scotland retains its coach unlike Bayern, which puts Scotland at an advantage because both the players and the coach know each other well. I've been in Germany for 50 years and I still follow Scottish football more closely," added the musician.

Hurdles on the Way

In Group D, Scotland also faces tough competition from Hungary and Switzerland. Paul Lambert, a former BVB professional, recently shared his concerns. "We believe that we can make it to the knockout stage for the first time in a tournament. But the games against Switzerland and especially Hungary will be psychologically demanding. These teams are formidable opponents compared to Germany," Lambert told the 'Sueddeutsche Zeitung'.

Scotland ended up last in the group at Euro 2021 following losses to the Czech Republic and Croatia and a goalless draw against England. Their absence in the 1998 World Cup's knockout stage speaks for their lacklustre performance in the 1998 tournament in France.
