After the major fire, there was a meeting for the workforce at the Lürßen-Kroger shipyard in Schacht-Audorf, Rendsburg. The management team reassured the employees, according to Martin Bitter, the business manager of IG Metall Rendsburg, who spoke to the German Press Agency. In his assessment, the framework conditions were stable, and the business situation was good. The shareholder of the yard was reliable. However, the meeting was also emotional. Approximately 300 employees attended, according to reports. The yard employs around 500 people.

A fire caused extensive damage in a hall where a yacht was being built on Tuesday. The fire was put out by Wednesday morning. According to company reports, work on the site at the North Sea Canal has already resumed. The cause and extent of the damage are still unknown. The police have launched investigations.

Project Honolulu

According to information from the German Press Agency, a newbuild of a 75-meter-long yacht was in the hall. Its estimated value was supposedly at least 100 million euros. The project (code name "Honolulu") was already well advanced. The yard specializes in the construction of luxury yachts.

The yard has not commented on the possible cause of the fire and the ship in the shipbuilding hall. The Lürßen Group has its headquarters in Bremen. At the Schacht-Audorf location, according to company reports, medium and large yachts from 55 to 110 meters in length are built, as well as refits and maintenance work on smaller ships. Even larger yachts have had their launch here.
