Complaints by cell phone: judiciary relies on online access
In future, citizens will be able to submit complaints to courts in Lower Saxony digitally using a smartphone, tablet or computer. This paperless service, which was previously only available to professional users such as lawyers, is now accessible to all citizens, as announced by the Ministry of Justice in Hanover on Monday. The so-called digital justice mailbox is intended to improve access to justice, speed up processes and facilitate the processing of digitally submitted documents.
According to Justice Minister Kathrin Wahlmann, the new service is not just limited to traditional legal disputes in court. "There are also many other situations in which citizens need to contact the justice system. Examples include inheritance certificate proceedings or guardianship matters," said the SPD politician. Experts could now also transmit expert reports digitally to courts and authorities. This saves time and money.
The new service runs via the nationally accessible internet portal mein-justizpostfach.bund.de - registration requires a so-called BundID and the online function of the ID card.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the version currently available is a pilot version. However, the range of functions of the digital justice mailbox is to be continuously expanded.
The digital justice mailbox, introduced by the Ministry of Justice, allows citizens to submit various types of complaints to courts, including inheritance certificate proceedings and guardianship matters, through the internet. This not only improves access to justice but also saves time and money by allowing experts to transmit reports digitally to courts and authorities.
