Competition between e-scooter rental companies continues almost everywhere

E-scooters for hire have been an integral part of cycle paths and streets in larger cities for several years now. When they were introduced around four years ago, several providers fought for their customers. This competition is still going on in most cities in Lower Saxony.

There are still four providers in Hanover. At the moment, it is not foreseeable whether more will be added in the future, according to the city. There are around 5000 rental scooters in the state capital.

There are two providers in Braunschweig. Together they provide around 2000 scooters. There are 1200 in Osnabrück, where two providers are also fighting for supremacy. According to the city, the two providers will remain the same. In Hildesheim, too, customers can choose between two different providers. Both provide around 300 devices each.

Only one provider remains in Oldenburg. The last of the original three competitors withdrew from the competition at the end of October, as the city announced. There are currently around 800 scooters available in the city.

Traffic in these cities has been significantly influenced by the ongoing mobility revolution brought about by e-scooter rental companies. The intense competition between these providers has led to a diverse range of options for users, with multiple providers offering their services in various cities.
