Comparatively many charging points for e-cars in the north

Schleswig-Holstein not only has a large number of electric vehicles, but also a correspondingly large number of charging stations. This puts the federal state well ahead of the other federal states. One particular district is ahead of the rest.

Comparatively many charging points for e-cars in the north

Schleswig-Holstein has a comparatively high number of charging points per registered electric vehicle. According to data from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), electric car owners can access at least 4028 charging points across the state. This means that, in purely mathematical terms, 17.1 electric vehicles registered in the north share a charging point. According to the data, around 69,000 electric vehicles were registered in Schleswig-Holstein by the end of June.

In a national comparison, the state between the seas therefore performs quite well and is in fifth place in the table. The frontrunner is Saxony with one publicly accessible charging station for 13.9 e-cars, while Saarland is in 16th place with a figure of 30 cars per charging station.

In Schleswig-Holstein, the hunt for a charging point in the district of Dithmarschen is the least strenuous in purely mathematical terms: according to the figures, only 9.8 electric cars have to share a charging point there. The district of Herzogtum Lauenburg carries the red lantern in the state. There is one publicly accessible charging point for every 30.6 electric cars. Between January and the end of June, 785 charging points were added in the state.

According to the ranking, the national average is 21.1 cars per public charging point. The front-runner is the city of Ingolstadt (4.2 cars per charging point), with the city of Wiesbaden in last place by some distance (115.7). In total, there were almost 97,500 publicly accessible charging points at the time.

Electric car owners in urban areas might find it easier to locate charging points, as Schleswig-Holstein's most densely populated district, Dithmarschen, only requires 9.8 electric cars to share a charging point. Despite the abundance of charging points, electric car consumers in Schleswig-Holstein may still need to consider the range of their electric vehicles to ensure they can travel between charging points efficiently.
