Climate loans - Companies can receive promotional loans for the energy transition

The state of Brandenburg supports private and public companies for more efforts towards climate protection with annual funding of 50 million Euro in soft loans from the Investment Bank Brandenburg (ILB). ILB announced that they will support companies in financing energy transition projects. "With the new Brandenburg Credit from ILB's own funds, we want to support municipal utilities, energy industry companies and other companies in financing their projects," said ILB managing director Ulrich Scheppan.

Climate neutrality by latest 2045

This could involve measures for energy generation, storage and conversion, but also more efficient energy use. The expansion of renewable energies is a central element to achieve the state government's goal of "climate neutrality by latest 2045". For this, investments of approximately 22 billion Euro alone are needed by 2030.

Supporting institutions are an important partner in tackling this challenge. Therefore, the ILB is launching the Brandenburg Transformation Financing Infrastructure Credit as of July 1, which supports public and private companies in financing energy transition projects.

ILB has already financed a geothermal project

The new Brandenburg Credit is not the first product from ILB's own funds to support the energy transition in the state of Brandenburg. For example, the ILB and Sparkasse Ostprignitz-Ruppin have financed a geothermal project of Stadtwerke Neuruppin, with which around 20,000 inhabitants and residents of the city will be supplied with sustainable heat from winter 2026/2027 onwards.

The Brandenburg Transformation Financing Infrastructure Credit starts today. Applications can be submitted formlessly by the respective companies or their house banks at the ILB.
