Commuters in Saxony mainly work in large cities
The commuters among the working population in Saxony mainly work in the state's major cities. As the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday, a total of around one million Saxons commute. Their workplaces are often located in Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz. However, the cities of Görlitz, Plauen and Schkeuditz also offered attractive jobs for people in the surrounding regions. According to the figures, over 80 percent of the workforce in Saxony never work from home. 979,161 employees live in the same city or municipality in which they work.
The high commuter numbers in Saxony can be analyzed using statistical data from the State Statistical Office. This data reveals that the labor market in Saxony is tightly connected to its major cities, with Leipzig, Dresden, and Chemnitz being the main employment hubs.
