Commerzbank mishap: incorrect debits after withdrawing cash
Commerzbank has again experienced a glitch. "At the weekend, due to a technical error by a service provider, there were some incorrect bookings for cash withdrawals by customers of third-party banks at our ATMs," said a Group spokeswoman on Wednesday. The news portal "Business Insider" had previously reported this.
Commerzbank customers are not affected, the spokesperson continued. The correction will now be made by the bank. "We apologize for the inconvenience caused." The bank did not comment on how many people were affected by the glitch.
According to "Business Insider", customers of other banks who had withdrawn cash from Commerzbank ATMs had the amounts debited from their accounts several times.
Just last week, it became known that fraudsters were able to plunder the bank accounts of Commerzbank customers through a security gap. At the time, the bank spoke of "a few isolated cases". The security vulnerability has since been fixed. The "Finanz-Szene" portal first reported on the incident.
The error at Commerzbank's ATMs affected consumers of third-party banks, leading to multiple debits from their accounts. This incident highlights the importance of banks ensuring the accuracy of their financial transactions to protect consumers' finances.
