- Commencement of scholastic year following summer vacation in Schleswig-Holstein
Following a 6-week-long summer break, the new academic year kicks off on a Monday in Schleswig-Holstein. Approximately 25,700 students are expected to attend school, as per the Education Ministry's estimates. This figure represents around 1,200 additional first-graders compared to the previous year.
CDU's Education Minister, Karin Prien, announced that only 99 teaching posts remain vacant in the state's general education system. This equates to approximately 0.5% of the roughly 20,250 available teaching roles. Minister Prien credits this positive employment outlook to the growth in available study places and teaching positions in training since 2017.
The new academic year emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and growth, as education plays a crucial role in shaping the minds of the next generation. With the addition of 1,200 first-graders, the teachers in Schleswig-Holstein have a greater responsibility to provide quality education.
