- Commencement of collective bargaining sessions in the sector of metal and electrical industries
In Dresden, discussions regarding wages for the metal and electrical sector in Saxony kick off on Wednesday. The labor union IG Metall and the employers' association VSME are scheduled to meet at 10 am, as per IG Metall's announcement.
This collective bargaining agreement affects around 69,000 workers. IG Metall has proposed a 7% salary hike over a 12-month period, along with an increase of 170 Euros in apprentice wages. They're also advocating for a social benefit for low-income earners and more time flexibility for all employees.
Wide-scale wage negotiations for the metal and electrical sector will commence mid-September. Saxony, Bavaria, and Baden-Württemberg will spearhead these discussions on Wednesday.
The tariff round for the metal and electrical sector in Saxony is set to follow the wage negotiations in September. After reaching an agreement on wages, IG Metall might propose adjustments to the existing tariff round.
