- Commencement of academic year initiated with road safety advocacy "Pause!" in MV.

With school about to kick off in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the police and the German Road Safety Association are back with their "Brake Yourself" campaign. They're urging drivers to be extra mindful of the influx of students on the roads. You'll notice large cautionary banners popping up, particularly around schools. This is their way of promoting safe driving habits.

The upcoming weekend will see first-graders in the northeast embarking on their first school day, and come Monday, classes will be in full swing for everyone. This influx of youngsters will be seen on foot, bikes, buses, and trams. Consequently, these warning banners won't just be put up near schools, but also at other prominent locations.

The Road Safety Association is also giving away fluorescent colored baseball caps to the new students and distributing informative leaflets to parents.

As per the Interior Ministry in Schwerin, a staggering 420 children between the ages of 6 to 14 were injured in traffic accidents in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 2023. Nearly 70 of these accidents happened on the commute to or from school.

Starting the new school year, first-graders in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will commence their first school day this weekend, marking the 'Start of school'. As a result, the police and the Road Safety Association have intensified their "Brake Yourself" campaign, placing cautionary banners around schools and other prominent locations.
