Comedian Patrick Thomalla ("I love horses") can't really warm up to city life in Berlin. "I didn't find it bad living in the city, but the feeling of freedom I have in the countryside, I wouldn't want to miss that," he said in the new podcast "OKF - Ortskontrollfahrt" of the RBB radio station Fritz.

The horse influencer with over 360,000 followers on Instagram lives in Zahna-Elster in the district of Wittenberg (Saxony-Anhalt), but also lived in Berlin for a time. "I thought I would really enjoy the big city life, but it was just a city life, not really enjoying and making the most of it," he said.

Now it's different. "I'm using it more and more consciously now and I like to take a hotel room with my partner when we go to the theater in the evening." In the countryside, he has meadows and a forest or can ride his horses through the stream. "It's like a vacation," gushed Thomalla, who was born in Wittenberg in 1990. In the podcast series, celebrities talk about their hometowns in Eastern Germany.

Thomalla expresses a longing for the feeling of freedom he experiences in rural life, contrasting it with his experience of city life in Berlin. Despite initially thinking he would enjoy urban living, he found it lacking compared to the countryside.

After moving back to Zahna-Elster, Thomalla appreciates the countryside's natural beauty, stating that spending time in the countryside feels like a vacation for him.
