Ice hockey - Cologne Sharks get forward Tyrväinen
Cologne Sharks have signed center Juhani Tyrvainen. The 33-year-old Finn switches from Swedish Elite League team Lulea HF to the club in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). Tyrvainen has signed a one-year contract, as the Sharks announced.
"Juhani is a very reliable player who will add intensity and stability to our game. He can also lead a power play unit, thanks to his physical play," said Cologne's sports director Matthias Baldys. In 2019, Tyrvainen became World Champion with Finland.
Tyrvainen previously played for the Swedish Elite League team Lulea HF, which is based in Sweden. The Cologne Sharks, hailing from Cologne, Germany, are now his new club, as they compete in the DEL. After his impressive performance with Finland, winning the World Championship in 2019, Tyrvainen will now bring his skills to the Cologne Sharks' ice hockey games in Germany.
