Collaborator in the case of the vanished tech magnate has passed away
Ex-associate of renowned UK tech tycoon Mike Lynch passes away. According to reports, Stephen Chamberlain was hit by a vehicle while running in Cambridgeshire, resulting in his demise in the hospital. His legal representative confirmed the news.
Former financial head of the British software company Autonomy, Chamberlain met his end following a collision with a vehicle while jogging in Cambridgeshire. Lynch and Chamberlain had been cleared of charges by an American court in a fraud case in June. The case revolved around the 2011 acquisition of Autonomy by tech giant Hewlett Packard (HP), which Lynch sold for a massive $11 billion.
The deal saw HP accuse Lynch and Chamberlain of inflating revenues, leading to a $8.8 billion write-off from the company's value. Lynch was subsequently dismissed from his position as CEO and was sued by HP. Both parties denied any wrongdoing, with Lynch arguing that HP had mishandled the Autonomy integration.
Post his departure from Autonomy in 2012, Chamberlain served as a director at cybersecurity firm Darktrace and provided his financial expertise to football club Cambridge United as a volunteer. "He was a courageous individual with unmatched integrity. We deeply mourn his loss," his attorney stated. His professional reputation was rehabilitated following his court victory, "and his honorable legacy continues through his loving family."
Despite his successful post-Autonomy career, Chamberlain's life was tragically cut short when he became a victim of a road accident while jogging in Cambridgeshire. Regrettably, the legal win and rehabilitation of his reputation could not shield him from the harsh realities of road accidents.
