A series of flash floods due to heavy downpours left the fire department in Colditz (Leipzig district) hard at work on Saturday night. Numerous basements were flooded, and buildings were damaged, as confirmed by City Fire Chief Steffen Schmidt on Sunday. Furthermore, two districts in the city were inaccessible for several hours due to the rain storm. Thankfully, there were no recorded injuries. Environment Minister Wolfram Günther (Greens) will visit Colditz on Sunday to assess the damage.
