Control in traffic entry - Coke worth 83,000 Euro found under the mat

The Police discovered over a kilogram of Cocaine in a bag during a control on the A3 in Emmerich (District Kleve). The street value of the drugs was reportedly 83,000 Euro by the Police. The bag was hidden under the passenger seat.

The overstepping police team from German and Dutch officers secured the drugs on Thursday evening. The patrol checked the entry traffic from the Netherlands at the former border crossing in the Elten district.

In the car were two Albanian men, aged 32 and 34, who were arrested temporarily and taken to the police station in Kleve after the drug find. The Men were taken into custody on judicial order. The investigations are ongoing.

The seized cocaine originated from North Rhine-Westphalia, according to preliminary information gathered by the police. The automatic number plate recognition system aided the police in identifying the vehicle involved in the drug trafficking. The foot mat in the car served as a clever hiding place for the kilogram cocaine. The criminality related to drugs in the region has been a concern for authorities in both North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands. The Dutch authorities also participated in the operation to combat the rising drugs traffic between the two countries. The city of Cleves, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, has seen an increase in such illegal activities recently.
