Parliament - Coalition wants to renew resolution on budget emergency
As a result of the Federal Constitutional Court's budget ruling, the Brandenburg state parliament is to declare a budget emergency once again. This was announced by the SPD, CDU and Green coalition parties in the state parliament in Potsdam on Tuesday. They intend to submit a corresponding motion to parliament before the end of December.
The state parliament had previously declared an extraordinary emergency situation for the financial years 2023 and 2024 for both years together and passed a double budget. Following the Karlsruhe ruling, this is now to be declared again separately for 2024, according to reports.
The determination of an emergency situation is the prerequisite for borrowing up to two billion euros to finance the so-called Brandenburg package. It is intended to mitigate the consequences of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and the energy crisis.
