Parliament - Coalition wants a different fiscal policy course from 2025
The black-red-yellow coalition is focusing on a stricter fiscal policy course in Saxony-Anhalt from 2025. A motion will be submitted on Thursday asking the state government to place stricter limits on a controversial instrument. In future budgets, the so-called global underspending should be limited to a maximum of one percent, it says. "That is a consensus in the coalition," CDU parliamentary group leader Guido Heuer told the German Press Agency on Wednesday.
The 2024 budget, which is to be passed in parliament on Thursday, estimates more expenditure than income. The global underspend is more than 430 million euros, which corresponds to around three percent. This money is to be saved in ongoing operations. In previous years, it became apparent that not all positions could be filled and not all investment funds could be spent.
The opposition recently criticized the global underspending as being too high and considered taking legal action.
