Bundesliga - Coach Lieberknecht sees light - "at least floodlights"
Even after the eighth winless game in a row, SV Darmstadt 98 is practicing patient frustration management. "Endure! Be resilient!" - were the words of coach Torsten Lieberknecht after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg. Using these words to lift his severely depleted team "is my bread and butter". The Lilies remain bottom of the Bundesliga table with nine points after 15 games.
Lieberknecht said about his personal situation, not without humor: "Tomorrow - I already know that - will be a totally shitty day. But then the day will come when you see the light again - floodlights in Hoffenheim." The promoted team will face TSG 1899 Hoffenheim at the end of the season on Tuesday evening.
After another setback, defender Emir Karic reported Lieberknecht's words in the players' circle on the pitch: "There are two options: We pack our bags and call it a day. Or we carry on," said the Austrian, assuring: "We'll take option two."
