- Coach Hürzeler on conversations with Hummels:

Trainer Fabian Hürzeler has confirmed talks with former national player Mats Hummels about a potential move to English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion. "I can say that the conditions are right – otherwise we wouldn't have pursued the matter further. The talks were very positive, both professionally and personally," the 31-year-old told TV station Sky.

Hürzeler has been in contact with the Hummels family for some time. St. Pauli's promotion coach added: "We have a lot of respect for each other, had good talks, but ultimately the player has to decide if he can fully identify with the club. In the end, it's about what the player wants and if he can fully commit. And that counts from now on."

The 35-year-old central defender is currently a free agent after his contract with Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund expired. A move to seven-time Italian champions FC Bologna did not materialize despite an offer. West Ham United of the Premier League is also said to have Hummels on their radar.

After considering various offers, Mats Hummels might consider a shift from the English Premier League to a German club, perhaps the German Bundesliga, as he ponders his future. Regardless of any potential move to the English Premier League, Hummels' fans in the Bundesliga would still eagerly anticipate his potential return to top-tier German football.
