Coach Geraerts delighted after meeting Steinmeier

FC Schalke 04 - Coach Geraerts delighted after meeting Steinmeier

Schalke coach Karel Geraerts was deeply impressed by a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. "I was very pleasantly surprised by how open and interested he was. We had a very good conversation," said Geraerts on Thursday.

The Belgian coach of the second-division soccer club was a guest of the Federal President at Bellevue Palace this week on the occasion of the state visit of the Belgian King Philippe to Germany. Steinmeier is a supporter of the Royal Blues. "He knows Schalke very well," Geraerts continued. "It was an honor for me to see the inside of the palace and the president was very charming."
