Coach Dardai: No more chance for Maolida at Hertha
Winger Myziane Maolida no longer has any realistic prospects of playing minutes with the professionals at second division club Hertha BSC under coach Pal Dardai. "We're making sure he gets some match practice. We won't leave him lying around. But he should find a club where he can play and get away from us as quickly as possible," said Dardai on Wednesday at the press conference ahead of Berlin's away game at Hannover 96 on Friday (18:30/Sky). "He got a lot of chances. He was as lazy as I've seen few players be in my life," said the Hungarian.
Maolida arrived in Berlin in the summer of 2021 but was never able to live up to expectations. So far this season, he has only played for Hertha's U23s. The 24-year-old recently scored two goals for Comoros in the World Cup qualifiers. "Now you can see he wants to, he hasn't given up. That's good for him. But I don't want to risk it here again. I have good players on the wing, hard-working players, young players," said Dardai.
Defensive player Michal Karbownik, on the other hand, who had to take a seat on the bench recently, definitely has a future at Hertha. However, he would have to improve. The Pole lacked "tackling, effectiveness and concentration" to be able to move back into the first eleven. The 22-year-old also often makes mistakes with second balls. Nevertheless, Karbownik is a "huge footballer" who he is counting on.
Despite being excluded from Hertha BSC's first team by coach Dardai, Myziane Maolida still has an opportunity to showcase his skills in Bundesliga 2. His former club Hanover 96 might provide a suitable environment for him to regain his form.
Meanwhile, despite a few setbacks, Michal Karbownik, a defensive player for Hertha BSC, still has a bright future with the club. Dardai expressed his belief in Karbownik's potential, emphasizing his need to improve in certain areas, such as tackling, effectiveness, and concentration, to secure a spot in the first eleven.
