Traffic - Closure of the Citytunnel for Hamburg S-Bahn ended
The four-week closure of the Citytunnel in Hamburg due to construction work has come to an end. According to the operator, S-Bahn trains can once again travel normally via Landungsbrücken. In order to renew the tracks, the S-Bahn trains were temporarily diverted via Dammtor. Trains on the S2 line commuted between Altona and Landungsbrücken. This was initially reported by NDR.
The Citytunnel had already been closed for several weeks during the summer vacation for track renewal. This work is also aimed at the changeover of the S-Bahn Hamburg route network announced for December 10: According to Deutsche Bahn, there will then only be the four lines S1, S2, S3 and S5. The previous two-digit S-Bahn lines S11, S21 and S31 will be integrated into the four lines.
