The Autobahn 24 in the Hamburg direction is completely passable again after the bus accident with 16 lightly injured people. The bus was towed away, the police reported on Friday morning. The A24 was closed between the interchanges of Parchim and Neustadt-Glewe for about four hours. Six of the 16 lightly injured were taken to a hospital for further treatment. Two replacement buses brought the other passengers to a truck stop.

The bus from Polish Danzig had nearly 60 men, women and children on board, according to the police, on its way to Hamburg. The vehicle came off the road, according to initial findings, near the settlement of Blievenstorf in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to the left of the highway. "Probably due to inattention," said a police spokesperson. The bus is said to have collided with the median barrier and a traffic sign.
