A blaze, reported to the emergency services around 5 in the afternoon, was causing problems near the vacation spot "Tropical Islands" in southern Brandenburg. At this point, approximately 3 hectares of forest were involved, confirmed a spokesperson from the emergency services. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The local broadcasting station Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) had previously covered this story.
The fire has since been brought under control, but the emergency response team is still dealing with clean-up efforts, according to sources. A fire patrol will keep an eye on the blaze throughout the night.
The cause of this inferno remained unknown as investigations were still ongoing, with the fire department. A total of 120 personnel were on the scene. The fire was only a few kilometers away from the amusement park.
