- Clinic Neubrandenburg in difficult economic situation
The Dietrich-Bonhoeffer Clinic Neubrandenburg finds itself, according to its own statements, in a "very difficult economic situation" and sees investments at risk. For instance, a new construction of the very cramped Central Emergency Room is urgently needed, the clinic management reported after a meeting with Health Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) in Neubrandenburg.
Funding has been promised, but a third of the own contribution is required. "Given the very difficult economic situation, the clinic currently sees no possibility of bringing up around ten million euros itself," the hospital management stated.
Drese brought an extra check with her during her visit. With 1.8 million euros, the state is helping to offset increased construction costs in the renovation of House R of the clinic, including the construction of a new clean room laboratory, it was reported. In this laboratory with particularly sterile conditions, cytostatics for chemotherapy in cancer patients will be produced. Overall, the construction project will now be supported by the state with 11.2 million euros.
The Dietrich-Bonhoeffer Clinic is one of four maximum care providers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The hospital has over 1,000 beds. It recently lost the care of extremely premature babies because it did not meet the prescribed case numbers.
The Dietrich-Bonhoeffer Clinic is seeking investments to construct a larger Central Emergency Room due to its current constraints. Despite state funding, the clinic struggles to contribute the required third amount for the project.
The lack of funding for the new Central Emergency Room construction puts other hospital improvements at risk for the Ditrich-Bonhoeffer Clinic, a major healthcare provider in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
