Climate-neutral industrialized country - Climate conference: results of citizens' forum presented
At the first climate conference of the state of Schleswig-Holstein in Neumünster, the results of the citizen forum "Climate" were handed over. They were received by Ministerpresident Daniel Günther (CDU) and Climate Minister Tobias Goldschmidt (Greens). In the citizen forum, solutions for achieving climate goals were discussed. The forum is intended to be a participation format for the climate protection program 2030 of the black-green state government.
"We have very ambitious targets, we want to become climate-neutral industrial land by 2040 and have therefore adopted a climate protection program for Schleswig-Holstein 2030 in the cabinet in January", said Ministerpresident Günther at the conference. The program should now be adapted further with the results of the citizen forum, so that eventually a "broadly supported climate protection program" can be passed. The climate conference is also expected to provide further impulses from Goldschmidt.
According to the Climate Ministry, a total of 3000 citizens were randomly selected for the citizen forum from all districts and free Hanseatic cities. The goal was to achieve as great a diversity as possible regarding age, gender, living space, and educational background among those who then participated in the discussion.
