Climate activists smear paint on University of Würzburg building

Climate activists from the Last Generation group have smeared orange paint on the central lecture hall and seminar building at the University of Würzburg. "We were very surprised by this," said a university spokeswoman on Tuesday. Police are investigating a 24-year-old and a 25-year-old after the incident on Tuesday morning on suspicion of damage to property, a spokesperson said. Two other people are said to have put up posters and a banner in the building. They are not being investigated for the time being, but the investigation is only just beginning.

According to the University of Würzburg, there was initially no estimate of the amount of damage.

The university spokeswoman expressed concern about the escalating trend of demonstrations, as this is not the first act of vandalism against their institutions by climate activists. Unfortunately, incidents of crime, such as property damage, have been rising during these demonstrations in various universities, including the UNDERFRONT.
