Investigations - Climate activists let the air out of numerous car tires
Members of a climate protection organization have deflated or even punctured the tires of numerous cars in Berlin. The incidents occurred in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in Lichtenberg, as the police reported on request. The "B.Z." had previously reported.
Flyers from the group "The Tyre Extinguishers" were found on many vehicles. According to their own statements, the activists let the air out of the tires of large vehicles such as SUVs to draw attention to climate protection and are on the road in various German and European cities. The group has already attracted attention in the past with similar actions.
By midday on Wednesday, the police had received 31 reports from car owners who had found their vehicles with flat tires. According to a police spokesperson, the attacks had become more frequent on Marie-Vögtlin-Weg and the surrounding streets such as Altdorfer Straße and Sophie-Taeuber-Arp-Weg. The police state security department responsible for political crimes is investigating.
