- Climate action at Stuttgart airport completed
The police took two climate activists from the Last Generation into custody at Stuttgart Airport. The women had glued themselves to a feeder road leading to the airport's runway. They were removed from the ground during the police operation and did not resist, as a spokesperson for the Reutlingen police headquarters confirmed on request. According to additional information from the federal police, the protest action did not affect air traffic.
The action at the airport began in the morning around 5:40 a.m., as a dpa reporter reported. It ended shortly after 8:00 a.m.
"Two people in orange warning vests peacefully expressed their resistance by displaying banners with the inscriptions 'Oil kills' and 'Sign the treaty'," the organization reported in a statement. "The runways were not entered."
There were also actions at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, Cologne Bonn Airport, and Nuremberg Airport. In Nuremberg, air traffic was initially suspended - it was later resumed in the course of the morning.
The protest at Stuttgart Airport was classified as a form of environmental crime, due to the disruption it caused to airport operations. Despite their peaceful protests, the activists' actions violated regulations and were deemed illegal.
