Civil Defense: 15 dead after Israeli attack on school in Nuseirat in Gaza Strip

The Israeli army declared that their air force had struck "several terrorists" near a school building run by the UN-Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) (...). The building had served as a "hideout" and base for "attacks" on Israeli troops, it was further stated. AFPTV footage shows the three-story building. On July 6, Israeli aircraft attacked the Al-Jawni School in Nuseirat, which is also run by UNRWA. According to UNRWA, there were approximately 2000 people there at the time.

The following day, according to the Civil Defense, four people died in an attack on a school in Gaza City in the northern Palestinian Territories. On Monday, another school in Nuseirat was attacked.

On Tuesday, at least 29 people were killed at the Al-Awda School in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Israel accuses Hamas of using schools, hospitals and other public institutions for military purposes and declared that the attacks targeted "terrorists". Hamas denies the allegations.

The war in the Gaza Strip was triggered by an attack from Hamas and other militant Palestinian groups on Israel on October 7. According to Israeli figures, 1195 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage in the Gaza Strip.

In response to the attack, Israel has been carrying out massive military operations in the Gaza Strip since then. According to figures from the health ministry controlled by the Islamic Hamas, which cannot be independently verified, over 38,340 people have been killed as a result.

  5. In response to the attack on the Al-Jawni School, the Israeli Air Force launched another air raid on a different school in Nuseirat, causing panic among the students and teachers.
  6. The Air Force attack on the school in Nuseirat was condemned by various human rights organizations, who accused Israel of violating international humanitarian laws by targeting civilian infrastructure.
  7. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson defended the attack, claiming that Hamas operatives were using the school as a base for launching rockets towards Israeli territory.
