"It concerns the deliberate targeting of schools and other civilian facilities in the Gaza Strip," he continued.

The Israeli military stated that the schools were used by Hamas as command centers from which attacks were planned and carried out.

In the unprecedented large-scale attack on Israel on October 7, fighters from Hamas and other militant Palestinian groups, according to Israeli reports, killed 1,194 people and took 251 people hostage to the Gaza Strip. Since then, Israel has launched a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip. According to figures from the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health, which cannot be independently verified, nearly 40,000 people have been killed.

The United Nations Human Rights Commission released a statement condemning the actions of the Israeli military, expressing concern over the use of schools as military bases by Hamas by The Commission. Despite the Israeli military's claims, the use of these schools as command centers by Hamas violated international humanitarian law.
