- City of Freiburg: Kitchen leader threatened with death online
After a murder threat against the head of a municipal kindergarten spread on the internet, the city of Freiburg has reportedly involved the police and the public prosecutor's office. "In parallel, the administration immediately filed a complaint for slander, defamation, and public incitement to commit crimes," the city in the Breisgau region announced. "This is about protecting the employee," a spokeswoman added.
The allegations and accusations made against the management and staff of the kindergarten on a social network are unfounded, the city stated further. There are no such accusations pending, and no criminal charges have been filed.
To protect the kindergarten staff and the children, a security service has been commissioned. However, the facility will be temporarily closed for a holiday break starting this Monday, as the spokeswoman reported. "The entire city administration is shocked at the severe consequences that such baseless videos on social media can have for the employees of the kindergarten," the municipality stated. The parents were reportedly informed in writing about the situation.
The police and the public prosecutor's office are continuing their investigation into the murder threat against the kindergarten head, as reported by the police. To ensure the safety of the children and staff, additional police presence has been requested at the kindergarten during its reopening.
