Veterinary office - City bans lion show at Wiesbaden Christmas Circus
The veterinary office has banned a lion show at the Wiesbaden Christmas Circus. During inspections, the office found blatant deficiencies in animal welfare and animal health requirements, the state capital announced on Wednesday. Among other things, the animal trainer was not sufficiently qualified to handle the animals. The accommodation of the lions also did not comply with animal welfare regulations.
The Wiesbaden Christmas Circus is scheduled to take place in the state capital from Thursday until the beginning of January. The event advertises the lion show as the highlight on its homepage. In addition to artistic performances, the program also includes dressage with horses, dogs and camels.

Despite the ban by the veterinary office, some animal lovers in Wiesbaden might still be looking forward to their leisure time at the circus, hoping for other animal-related performances like dressage with horses, dogs, and camels. However, the controversy surrounding the treatment of lions at the Wiesbaden Christmas Circus has raised concerns among animal welfare advocates who urge for stricter regulations and certifications for such shows, including vetorial offices in other cities like Hesse.
