During the strike actions at Chemnitz City-Bahn, the union GDL needs to make sure students continue with their transportation through a crisis management plan. The City-Bahn applied for a temporary injunction against the GDL, which the Chemnitz Labor Court granted on Wednesday and ordered the GDL to participate in an emergency service plan. The decision was made considering the need for student transportation.

"I am thrilled for our young passengers and their parents that this legal triumph over the GDL and its federal chairman Claus Weselsky has been accomplished," declares City-Bahn CEO Friedbert Straube in a statement. He urges the GDL to engage in talks. The conflict can only be settled through negotiations.

The City-Bahn informs that roughly 1,800 students use these lines daily to reach school and return home. These students have also been affected by the strikes in the recent weeks. The GDL is demanding a 35-hour workweek at the City-Bahn, which they already have with other railway organizations. This has led to a series of strikes, overburdening the municipal company.
