Social affairs - Cities offer numerous aids for homeless people in winter

Elke Voitl (Greens), Frankfurt's head of social services, calls on the public to look out for people in need of help and the homeless, especially in the cold winter months. "Don't walk past if you see someone lying unprotected in the cold or in any other emergency situation", she explained. If necessary, the emergency number should be called.

The winter cold is particularly hard on homeless people and can even be fatal. Hesse's cities try to help people with a wide range of services. These range from tea rooms and warming buses to sleeping places especially for women. This is the result of a survey of local authorities conducted by the German Press Agency.
