Circumnavigator Herrmann: Awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany

Boris Herrmann has just finished his last regatta of the year. Back in Hamburg, he will receive a great honor on December 21 - in the form of an award.

Awards - Circumnavigator Herrmann: Awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany

Five-time circumnavigator Boris Herrmann is to receive a prestigious award from the Federal Republic of Germany. According to an announcement by the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the presentation of the Cross of Merit on Ribbon is planned for December 21 at 1 p.m. in Hamburg City Hall. The award is the first of eight different levels of the Order of Merit. Hamburg's Senator for the Interior and Sports, Andy Grote, will present Herrmann with the order.

The 42-year-old achieved greater fame with his premiere in the 2020/2021 Vendée Globe solo circumnavigation. The professional sailor, who lives with his family in Hamburg, campaigns for the world's oceans and climate protection with his team Malizia, among other things. Herrmann will be taking part in his second solo regatta at the Vendée Globe next year on November 10.
