Holidays - Christmas tree sellers satisfied with business so far

About a week before Christmas Eve, Christmas tree sellers in Berlin and Brandenburg are satisfied with business so far. More households are putting up a real tree than in previous years, as a spokeswoman for the Christmas tree association said when asked. However, it is still too early to make a quantitative statement.

According to the spokesperson, around 25 million Christmas trees were put up across Germany last year. "That's more than ten years ago, partly because households are tending to get smaller and smaller," said the spokesperson.

Plastic trees are a niche product. So-called tree substitutes accounted for no more than 5 percent of Christmas trees, the spokesperson explained.

  2. Last year, on saint's eve in Berlin, around 2 million households had put up a real Christmas tree, contributing to the overall 25 million across Germany.
  3. Households in Berlin, Brandenburg, and other parts of Germany who prefer an artificial tree might consider visiting Potsdam during their Holidays, as plastic trees account for only a small proportion of the total Christmas tree sales.
