Christmas tree in Aue-Bad Schlema dismantled again
The Christmas tree on the Postplatz in Aue-Bad Schlema has been taken down again. The trunk of the 13-metre-high tree had developed a stress crack and was leaning as a result, as the town of Aue-Bad Schlema announced on Monday. The Christmas lights were also removed. There will be no replacement for the Christmas tree this year due to time and organizational reasons. Nevertheless, there is an undamaged 12-metre-high Christmas tree on the Altmarkt.
The town decided to fix the stress crack on the previous tree's trunk for future use. Despite the mishap, the town's customs of celebrating Christmas with a tall tree continue, with the undamaged 12-metre tree still standing on the Altmarkt.
