Christmas hosts wanted for international students
This year, the Studierendenwerk Hamburg is once again pairing students from other countries with people who want to share their Christmas traditions here. The Studierendenwerk Hamburg announced on Tuesday that it is now looking for hosts for international students for the Christmas period. "Anyone who has ever spent Christmas away from home will probably know the feeling of homesickness and loneliness," said Studierendenwerk Managing Director Sven Lorenz. With the "International Christmas Guest" initiative, the organization wants to enable a happy Christmas with host families and build intercultural bridges.
According to the Studierendenwerk, the joint activities range from a visit to the Christmas market to a festive meal. There are no time limits. A joint meeting to get to know each other is also organized in advance. Interested hosts can register with the initiative until November 28. Last year, according to the Studierendenwerk, 69 students from 27 different countries were brought together with hosts from Hamburg.
Universities play a significant role in connecting students from various countries, and many of these international students may be participating in the "International Christmas Guest" initiative. During their leisure time, these students will likely enjoy fixed activities such as visiting Christmas markets and sharing festive meals with their host families.
