Media - Christmas concert with Steinmeier comes from the Black Forest
The traditional televised Christmas concert with the German President on Christmas Eve will come from the Black Forest this year. Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender are expected to attend the recording in the parish church in St. Peter (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district), ZDF announced on Thursday. The program will be hosted by Johannes B. Kerner.
"Christmas with the Federal President" has been an integral part of the musical Christmas Eve on ZDF for years. The program was launched in 1995 on the initiative of the then Federal President Roman Herzog and his wife Christiane. Since the premiere in Dießen, Bavaria, the incumbent Federal Presidents have visited a different federal state every year.
Last year, Steinmeier and Büdenbender were guests at St. Nikolai's Church in Flensburg in the far north of the country.
