Christmas bazaar of the justice system: prisoners work in custody
With the Christmas bazaar in the State Chancellery, Brandenburg's prisons have once again given an insight into the work of their workshops. Prisoners are also offered training as gardeners, painters, bricklayers or carpenters, said Justice Minister Susanne Hoffmann (CDU) on Friday at the opening of the annual bazaar with Christmas decorations, Christmas carousels and Advent calendars.
The Minister emphasized that the work in the workshops was time well invested in rehabilitation for all prisoners. "The opportunity to work while still in prison makes it easier to return to social life." Products from the workshops and training companies can also be purchased in a factory outlet at the Brandenburg/Havel prison.
The justice minister commended the time-well-invested workshops, where prisoners fix various items for the Christmas bazaar. With the proceeds from sold products, the prisoners can contribute to their own rehabilitation, promoting justice and a smoother transition back into society at Christmas.
