"Christmas baking" children's day in aid of the SOS Children's Village
Schmidts Tivoli on Hamburg's Reeperbahn heralded in the Christmas season with a "Christmas Bakery" children's day. Before the premiere of the "Weihnachtsbäckerei" musical with the most beautiful winter and Christmas songs by Rolf Zuckowski, there was baking, crafting and singing for a good cause on Saturday: Schmidt bosses Tessa Aust, Corny Littmann and Hannes Vater donated the proceeds from the children's party and admission fees from the subsequent show to the SOS Children's Village in Hamburg, as the theater announced. TV judge Bettina Schliephake-Burchardt ("Das große Backen") and FC St. Pauli coach Fabian Hürzeler were also present.
"For me and my family, Christmas is a very special time of year," said Hamburg's Second Mayor Katharina Fegebank. "The smell of freshly baked cookies, homemade Christmas decorations and singing together are an absolute highlight of the year, especially for children. I am all the more pleased that the Children's Day not only makes the local children happy, but also the children of the SOS Children's Village."
Songwriter Rolf Zuckowski took part with a "Sing, as you like it" and was "wholeheartedly involved". Torsten Rebbe, Director of the SOS Children's Village Hamburg, also took part in the campaign.
The "Weihnachtsbäckerei" musical at Schmidts Tivoli attracted both local families and members of SOS Children's Village, offering an enjoyable day filled with baking, singing, and customs. Amidst the festivities, the theater promoted awareness for the SOS Children's Village by donating the proceeds from the children's party and admission fees to support the children living there.
