Chocolate production in Germany on the rise
The import volume of cocoa beans and broken cocoa beans even increased by 5.8% to 473,400 tons, according to the figures. The most important cocoa exporter for Germany by far is the Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire), followed by Ghana and Nigeria.
However, sharp price increases could have an impact on the current year. Import prices in particular have risen massively between October 2022 and October 2023: by 53.9% for cocoa beans and broken cocoa beans and by 27.6% for cocoa mass and cocoa butter. The producer price for sugar rose by 26.2 percent, following a sharp increase in the previous year.
