Chile becomes Guest of Honor at the 2027 Book Fair
Chile will be Guest of Honour at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2027. As announced by the Book Fair, Book Fair Director Juergen Boos and Chile's Culture Minister Carolina Arredondo Marzán signed the official Guest of Honour contract this Friday in Santiago. Chile's publishing scene is lively and young, explained Boos. There are also well-known writers such as Pablo Neruda, Isabel Allende and Roberto Bolaño. "Chilean book illustrations, which have received numerous international awards, will also take center stage," explained Boos.
Guest of Honour appearances at the Frankfurt Book Fair have been taking place since 1976, with the aim of increasing the number of translations from the guest country into German. Next year, Italy will be the guest country. In 2024, the fair is scheduled to take place from October 16 to 20.
Chile's rich literature will be showcased during its role as Guest of Honor at the 2027 Book Fair. Visitors can expect to see a focus on Chilean book illustrations, which have earned several international awards.
