Arian case - Child's body found: No evidence of third-party involvement

After discovering a child's corpse in the northern part of Lower Saxony, the autopsy revealed no signs of external injury. The police in Rotenburg an der Wümme, in conjunction with the Stade Public Prosecutor's Office, announced this on Thursday. Therefore, no indications of criminal activity have been identified.

The investigations for the undisputed identification of the body are still ongoing. "The police, however, are assuming with high probability that the deceased child is the missing Arian from Elm," the statement reads.

Regarding the cause of death, the police refuse to make any statements due to the personal rights of the deceased child and their relatives.

The six-year-old Arian from Bremervörde-Elm has been missing since April 22. For a week, hundreds of response forces searched for the autistic child - on land, from the air, and in the water.

On a Monday afternoon, a farmer discovered a dead child during fieldwork on a meadow in Estorf, in the Stade district. The autopsy of the body was expected to provide information on the identity, cause of death, and time of death.

Police statement

  1. The discovery of the child's body was made in Estorf, a part of the Stade district in Lower Saxony, Germany.
  2. The public prosecutor's office in Stade is working closely with the police in Rotenburg an der Wümme to investigate any potential third-party fault in the case.
  3. The autopsy results, while revealing no signs of external injury, have not yet conclusively identified the child as missing six-year-old Arian from Elm.
  4. In case of emergencies, it is crucial for the police to respect the personal rights of the deceased and their relatives, including avoiding speculation about the cause of death.
  5. Despite the ongoing investigations, the police in Rotenburg an der Wümme have emphasized that they are treating the case as a potential missing persons case, with a high probability of the child being Arian.
