A Berlin mother thought to have thrown her 1-year-old off their third-floor apartment has been temporarily committed to a mental facility based on signs of illness, reveals the Berlin public prosecutor. This information was shared on Tuesday.

Signs suggest that the 40-year-old mom has some sort of mental condition. Authorities are looking into her because they think she attempted to kill someone over trivial issues. This struggling mother has four kids: an adult one and three younger ones.

A young girl was recently discovered with significant injuries from falling in a cat box placed near a house in the Treptow-Köpenick neighborhood, located in the southeastern part of Berlin. Upon arriving at the scene, the cops came across the mother inside the apartment. She was then taken into custody. Additionally, they found a nine-year-old child within the house. The child is now being looked after by the Youth Welfare Office.
