- Child pornography: Police search homes in Saxony
In the course of investigations into numerous child pornography offenses, police have searched eleven residences in Chemnitz, the district of Mittelsachsen, and the Erzgebirge district over the past few days. A 42-year-old man is suspected of producing images of severe sexual child abuse himself, as reported by the Chemnitz police.
He is alleged to have repeatedly sexually abused the two children of his partner and his own daughter, according to the police. The three children are reportedly of school age. The 42-year-old was not arrested, police said. Officers conducted a so-called risk assessment, removed him from the residence, and informed the youth welfare office.
Investigations against eleven men
Police searched a total of eleven residences in Chemnitz neighborhoods, Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf (district of Mittelsachsen), Ehrenfriedersdorf (Erzgebirge district), and Aue. They reportedly seized 20 mobile phones, 18 SD cards and USB sticks, eleven laptops and computers, six hard drives, and other technical equipment.
The investigations are reportedly targeting eleven men aged 22 to 85. They are suspected of distributing, acquiring, and possessing child pornography. No arrests were made, it was reported.
The investigations were initiated following tips from the "National Center for Missing and Exploited Children" (NCMEC), a U.S. organization, to German investigators.
The increase in child pornography cases is a concerning form of crime. Despite the searches and seizures of electronic devices, no arrests have been made in these eleven investigations.
