Child hit by car in Geratal and critically injured
A child was hit and critically injured by a car driver while crossing a country road in Geratal. According to the police, the eight-year-old boy wanted to cross the road behind a bus at a bus stop between Liebenstein and Gräfenroda (Ilm district) on Monday. An 80-year-old driver approaching hit him with his car.
According to initial findings, the collision caused the boy to hit the hood of the car and then fall onto a kerb. According to the police, the child was flown to hospital by a rescue helicopter with life-threatening injuries. The country road was temporarily closed.
