- Child Experiences Bite from Police Canine

During a wedding event on the outskirts of Palatine Ruppertsberg, in Bad Dürkheim's district, last Friday, a police service dog suffered shallow bite wounds. This was confirmed on Monday by a police spokesperson. As previously reported by the Rhineland-Palatinate Police Presidency in Ludwigshafen, a two-month-old girl was airlifted to the hospital by helicopter after the incident. Fortunately, there was never any threat to her life.

The dog handler was at the wedding in his free time. At the time of the incident, his wife was leading the animal. Investigations are currently underway for negligent physical harm. The Rhineland-Palatinate Police Presidency is also assessing the serviceability of the Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) police dog, the spokesperson added.
